South Campus – Zilker Park Kite Festival

zpkfestival2010web

Hey Southies, the Zilker Park Kite Festival is one of Austin’s best-know annual events. Every year this event is the kick-off to the hundreds of springtime activities here in Austin. What makes it more exciting is that it’s the longest, continuously running kite festival in the United States!

So to kick off this spring, we’d like to invite all of you to come fly a kite with us on Sunday afternoon, March 7th at Zilker Park. If you don’t have a kite, don’t worry! We will be giving away kites on Sunday morning, March 7th, to all the kids that attend Kids Quest South! At the event, we will have an area setup just for us where you can bring your family and friends. And even better news……Admission to the festival is FREE, so come out and see the spectacular sight of hundreds of kites in the sky and enjoy a spring day in the park. Hope to see you there!

For information on parking and shuttles please visit www.zilkerkitefestival.com

Kids Quest Christmas Calendars

HAVE YOU STARTED YOUR CALENDARS?

For the last two weeks, we’ve given out Christmas calendars to your kids. It’s not too late to start this fun family activity if you haven’t already. This is a great opportunity to spend time together as a family and guide your kids in learning more of about the Christmas story.  Each day on the calendar there is something new to share within your family (don’t be afraid to change daily activities to fit better into your family) and it can be used as a reminder for you and your kids to learn more about this season of celebration. Take time to read each day together, and then mark that day off as you count down to Christmas.  After you complete your calendar, bring it back to the check-in station for a prize.

Early Childhood Calendars (Kindergarten and younger)

8.5×11 Calendar

Crazy Countdown Ornament/Gift Instructions

presents

Crazy Christmas Countdown has been going on for 3 weeks already and so far families have already taken over 200 ornaments from the Kids Quest Christmas tree. That’s incredible. That’s means gifts for hundreds of families in need this Christmas.

Here are a few important reminders.

  • Although Crazy Christmas Countdown has two more weeks, it would be best to bring gifts by this Sunday, December 13th. Although we’ll still be able to distribute gifts brought in after this Sunday, the Christmas Dinner we’re hosting to support Gateway’s food pantry/refugee families is next week. So if you have an ornament, please bring your gifts in this weekend!
  • In order to keep consitency for gifts, please don’t exceed $30.
  • Please bring your gift back to the Kids Quest lobby inside an open gift bag.

Did you forget to grab an ornament and you still want to participate? You can. Just follow the instructions above and purchase the items below for your family’s gift bag!

Gift for a family in need:
