If you’ve been reading this blog, getting my emails or hearing my announcements, you probably know a little about our upcoming promotion. Being that this blog is all about communicating to parents, let me take some time to clearly explain what is and is not happening on August 24th. Be sure to read this as things HAVE CHANGED.
We actually began the process of getting portable buildings on our campus back in the late winter/early spring and we anticipated having them ready long before August 24th. Even the company we are getting the portables have told us that it never takes this long.
So on August 24th, we will not have our portables in place. We do have a work around, so here it is:
- The biggst thing that will happen on August 24th is that our 5th graders will leave Kids Quest and become a part of The Uprising (Middle School). Eventually the Uprising will move into the Cottage (upstairs in Kids Quest), but until our portables are in place, they will meet in the Garage.
- Kids in Kids Quest Juniors (downstairs preschool) will stay exactly where they are (unless they’ll move from one classroom to the next as normally happens as the kids get older. Eventually the kids that are in the Clubhouse will move into one of the portables, but for now they’ll stay put.
- Five year-old kids who will begin kindergarten on August 25th will stay in the Cottage (Upstairs Kids Quest Building). In past years, they would have moved into Kids Quest A. Once our portables are in place, the kids who are currently in the Cottage will move to a 5 and Kindergarten program out there. So, for the next few weeks they too will stay put.
- Elementary doesn’t really change that much either. First through third graders will be dropped off at Kids Quest A (Upstairs Kids Quest Building). Fourth and fifth graders will be dropped off at Kids Quest B (Upstairs Kids Quest Building). This change will happen on August 24th. August 24th will be the date that small groups are introduced but groups will not technically be assigned until our new curriculum begins on September 7th.
So, those are the major changes. Unfortunatley we will not be able to make sweeping changes all in one weekend, but we’ll get there. It’s going to be a great year and I look forward to seeing all that God is going to do through Kids Quest and Gateway families.
* Also, in a few weeks we will actally have some maps and floorplans available so you’ll know exactly where your child belongs (especially when these portables arrive).

Just curious, my 4 yr old (9:30 service) is upstairs in the cottage.
It looks like no change for now, but I didn’t follow where he’ll be once the portables are up.
I’m presuming in the portables? With the “5 and Kindergard”? or a new room that is just the 4 yr olds? I’m sure he’ll be fine either way – just curious…

As far as portables are concerned, it looks like one portable will be specifically for 5’s and Kindergarten. Here at the beginning of the year there will not be that many in this portable, but by the end of the year, it will be pretty full as it’s the “holding tank” for kids waiting to push up to elementary.
The other portable will more than likely be for 3 1/2 and 4 year old children. Basically kids who would normally be in either the clubhouse or Cottage (minus the 5 year old kids in there now).
