August 23rd is our big day of promotion. On this day all our kids will jump up to their new grade. This is when we have all our small group leaders in place for the following year and essentially our programming for the next year begins. It’s usually an exciting day.
However, transitions can be tough… sometimes a little scary. Especially for the kindergartners promoting to first grade and the 5th graders promoting to middle school. We want to make these transitions as easy as possible. We found that doing previews help with this.
So, on August 9th and 16th we’re hosting preview weekends at our McNeil Campus!
As a parent, this doesn’t affect you at all. You’ll check your child into the same room as always. However, about 10 minutes into the class, the preschool teachers will escort the kindergartners up to the elementary rooms and the 5th graders will walk over to the Uprising (Middle School room) and get a sneak peak of what a Sunday looks like in these different programs. Before the service is over your kids will go back to their original classroom for pick up.
We’re going to do this twice so that every kid (at least as many as possible) will get a chance to check it out and meet their new small group leaders before promotion day on August 23rd. On Promotion Sunday, they’ll automatically promote in our check-in software and you’ll actually drop them off in their new classrooms. We’re looking forward to the 2009-2010 school year, it’s going to be amazing!

So Kenny, will this also be done for the Deepen services as well? I was just wondering so I could communicate this to Katelyn
. Thanks!

Good question! Yes we will. We’ll promote and preview in all of our services.
