Swine Flu

We’ve had some parents ask questions about children’s services in response to the swine flu.

At this point we will be offering all of our weekend programs. During the week and between services, toys and facilities are cleaned to prevent the spread of illness. Our well-child policy states that we do not allow children to particiapte in our programs if they have displayed any symptoms of illness within the last 24 hours. In light of the swine flu, we do ask that if your child is sick, please don’t bring them to Kids Quest.

We look forward to having you with us this weekend.

One Response to “Swine Flu”

  1. Joe Lombardo Says:

I realize that this is an older post, but it still applies. I work in infection prevention and control at Seton, and we’ve been kept up to date regarding this from both the CDC and the state.

“Swine flu” (Now called novel H1N1) is no more contageous than regular flu. The problem is that nobody has been vaccinated for it. Covering your cough and practicing good hand hygiene (using antimicrobial gel is very effective) will prevent the spread of any flu including this one. A child can be contageous up to 24 hours before they start displaying flu symptoms, so covering coughs and hand hygiene is always important.
    thanks,

    Joe
