		<description>I realize that this is an older post, but it still applies. I work in infection prevention and control at Seton, and we&#039;ve been kept up to date regarding this from both the CDC and the state.

&quot;Swine flu&quot; (Now called novel H1N1) is no more contageous than regular flu. The problem is that nobody has been vaccinated for it. Covering your cough and practicing good hand hygiene (using antimicrobial gel is very effective) will prevent the spread of any flu including this one. A child can be contageous up to 24 hours before they start displaying flu symptoms, so covering coughs and hand hygiene is always important.
