Screen shot 2009-10-16 at 12.16.57 PM

Attention Gateway dads of young children. There is a Men’s Breakfast at 9:00 AM on Saturday, October 31st. Free childcare is always offered, but this time the kids will have holiday themed crafts and a costume parade. Oh yeah, we’ll also have candy. Let this be you and your child’s first Halloween activity!

If you’ve never been to Gateway’s Men’s Breakfast, you’re in for a treat. It’s a great place to connect with other men and this time Cody Kanz will be speaking. In addition to the candy for your kids, we’ll serve breakfast tacos from Taco Deli. The cost is only $7. If you plan on attending, fill out the form below so we can plan for your attendance. Send questions to men@gatewaychurch.com.

Let me know if you have any questions, I couldn’t think of any other details right now.  I may send you some more later, but this is good for this week.

The Great Gateway Gathering

Kids Quest invites you to join in the, The Great Gateway Gathering

On October 31st, Halloween Night, Kids Quest is organizing a fall outreach opportunity for families.  This outreach will engage our communities and help fill the food pantry at Gateway Church.  We will be engaging our kids in serving their community as well as helping to fill up the food pantry at Gateway.

How can you get involved?
On Sunday, October 25th in the KQ building families will have the opportunity to grab “Gather Food” cards.  These cards will provide a instructions for receiving homes, and instructions for family willing to participate.  Each family will be able to pick up as many cards as they would like to hand out in their neighborhood.

What do I do once I get the “Gather Food” cards?
Friday night,  October 30th each family will be take their cards and invite their neighbors join in The Great Gateway Gathering.  The instructions for their neighbors will simply be to fill a bag with food they are donating to the food pantry and leave it out front on Halloween night.  Then as Gateway families are out trick or treating, they will pick the food donations up.  Simple, right?

Do I have to do this with family?
This is your opportunity to serve together and let others (especially kids) experience the joy of serving.  We encourage you to invite others in your small group, friends or neighbors to serve along with you on Halloween night.

I’m in!  What’s next?
Spread the word to others about The Great Gateway Gathering and consider inviting others to serve with you on Halloween night!  Don’t forget…Be ready on Sunday, October 25th to pick up your cards in the KQ Lobby!

Child Dedication

42-17251068Kids Quest is hosting a Child Dedication in November. If you have a new addition to your family who has not been dedicated, we’d love for you to participate.

We offer a Preparation to Child Dedication class as a prerequisite to dedication. We’ll have two separate classes (you only need to attend one) on October 18th and 25th at 5:00 PM in the Garage at the McNeil Campus. This will be during our Deepen service, so we’ll have children’s activities for kids fifth grade and under.

For more information about child dedication, what it is and why we do it – click here.

Parent 411: Deepen for Kids

Since the deepen service began last February, programing for kids has essentially been a repeat of what was taught earlier in the day. In elementary, we made a few programming changes but basically it has been the same stuff. Well, not any more. Although a third to half of our deepen kids came to an earlier service, our focus has been on getting our volunteer teams and small group leaders in place before we tackled curriculum changes. Now that we’re in a pretty good place, we’re making some changes that you’re going to like.

Beginning October 18th, Kids Quest Elementary is moving to a curriculum designed to help kids grow in their faith. It starts with the basics and helps them mature spiritually one step at a time. Really, it’s Deepen for kids.

Here’s the deal. Some of the changes we’re making might affect you. Deepen kids will be getting binders with lesson materials that they’ll need to keep up with and work on during the week. There is a lot of important information that you need to know. So, we’re hosting a brief parent 411 on Sunday, October 11th at 6:30 PM. It will be right after the deepen service. We’ll keep your kids while in the meeting and we promise to keep it very short. We just need to communicate some important things about this new curriculum and the direction we are heading.

Let us know that you’re coming to the 411. Click here for more information or to register.

KQ admin volunteers

dataentry

Did you know that you can serve in Kids Quest without being with kids?

There are a lot of parents out there who want to help somehow, but they’d rather not work with kids. If that’s you, then perhaps serving in an administrative role might might be a better fit.

Here’s the truth. Kids Quest isn’t just goldfish and puppets. There is a HUGE administrative side to supporting the volunteers and the 800+ kids who attend every weekend. We have administrative volunteers who serve on Sunday mornings during the service, there is an admin team that gets together on Monday mornings and other volunteers who serve in the office and work on projects from home throughout the week. Admin volunteers cut things out, make copies, prepare supply boxes, organize closets and storage spaces, make phone calls, perform data entry and help with filing.

Specifically we’re looking for 2-3 people who can help with data entry, something that can easily be done from home.

If any of these tasks or roles sound like something you can do, send us an email at kidsquest@gatewaychurch.com.
